As the mother of a daughter with hearing loss, every
second I have to do everything for her auditory brain development.
Listening is the very important part of speech development for children with
hearing loss. Learn to listen, learn to wait for instructions (rules of game,
requests, rules of behavior, process explanations). Of course, correct matching
and right adjusting of hearing aids are the main conditions for
listening.
But it's easy to say! My daughter is very impulsive
and she has bad concentration. So I let her make a rule for the first time, then I’m advising her to
change some part of successions.
This is example:
1. Ikea beads or beans, or
something that consist of bigger pieces if your child is younger than 3 years
old.
2. Pots with different capacity (little, middle,
big).
3. Teaspoon.
4. Silicone Cake Pan (for easier empty)
Name every tool that you are using in your game.
Picture 2, 3, 4.
Comment every action step by step: spoon up
beads into a little cup, pour beads from cup into a can, pour beads from can
into a big bowl. So, all game should be commented all the time with short clear
sentences. After actions with your descriptions try to rule your child. Ask him
to pour the beads from a little cup to a big bowl, or to spoon up beads in a
big bowl or any other action.
The goal is to intervene in the child’s
self-speech and to make him to listen to you.
